Pizzalicious! The best pizza in Margaret River
Pizza and holidays go together like wine and cheese, like spring and flowers, like tea and scones. While we can all agree pizza is a delicious gift from the food gods, there’s plenty of room for individual preferences. For instance, how to you feel about pineapple on pizza (controversial topic, we know)? Are you a fan of tradition and insist on minimal ingredients and thin crusts, or do you fancy your slice piled high with gourmet meat, gooey cheese, and sauce galore?
You don’t have to venture far to find great pizza in WA’s South West. Here are our favourite pizza eateries, from Dunsborough to Margaret River.
The best pizza in the Margaret River region
Peace Pizza, Dunsborough
Peace Pizza has solidified its place as a Dunsborough favourite with its thin and crispy woodfired pizzas, and retro outfitting. Try the ‘Bigfoot’ with lamb, roast pumpkin and pine nuts, or if you want to get your tastebuds singing, you can’t go past the ‘el Capitan’ with spicy chorizo, jalapenos and corn chips. This is definitely a craft beer and pizza combo kind of evening.
Eagle Bay Brewing Co, Eagle Bay
A jewel in Eagle Bay’s crown, this year-round popular brewery not only serves up highly respected beer but also flavoursome share plates and main dishes. The half dozen or so pizzas on the menu are all great, from a classy garlic, chilli, parmesan and mozzarella to a delicious lemon herb chicken with gremolata crumbs and red onion balsamic. There’s a gorgeous view across the rolling hills to enjoy too.
Bungalow Neighbourhood Social, Dunsborough
Bungalow is one very cool venue with an endless summer-type vibe. The pizzas are made with a few choice ingredients that work together beautifully. Think delicious mortadella, pistachio, ricotta and mozzarella, or pork and fennel sausage with chilli, green olives and basil. Amazing pizzas, beer on tap, live music and outdoor tables? Holiday perfection.
Caves House, Yallingup
An iconic venue to spend a warm afternoon with friends under swaying peppermint trees. Bask in the live music while you share a woodfired pizza and sip a glass of fragrant white or hearty red South West wine. Families love it here too. Pizza will be calling your name after a busy day with your kids, with Caves House close to a petting farm, Ngilgi Cave, and a whole host of popular beaches.
Swings & Roundabouts, Yallingup
Head for the backyard at this gorgeous winery/restaurant and tuck into a casual meal. Only the best ingredients grace the top of these pizzas. Among the scrumptious variety is ‘Dolce Vita’ with mozzarella, goat cheese, pears, honey, walnuts and black pepper, and also ‘Zingara’ which features Italian sausage, potato, red onion, rosemary and mozzarella. Divine.
Pizzica, Margaret River
Quite possibly the best pizza in the Margaret River region, any self-respecting pizza lover must visit Pizzica. Your first order of business is to choose between rosse (tomato sauce based), bianche (no tomato) and puccia (a sandwich-like roll made with pizza dough). Simple, elegant, gourmet Mediterranean goodness. Think grilled vegetables, hot salami, fiordilatte, fresh basil, and lashings of EVOO. Order some grappa to round out your authentic experience!
The Sea Garden Cafe, Margaret River
Did you know this is the only licensed venue in Margaret River with ocean views? Get yourself down to this funky and relaxed spot for a refreshing Aperol Spritz, sunset view, live music, and a pizza to share with your nearest and dearest. We love that they have rejuvenated those familiar childhood menu items – Hawaiian, Meat Lovers, Five Cheese – but honoured them with top produce.
